Succinic acid (SA) is a major feedstock to several chemicals in the process industry including 1,4-Butanediol, polyester, tetrahydrofuran and pyrollidone. Moreover, it can replace other chemicals directly, including adipic acid for polyurethane applications and maleic anhydride for all applications. It has potential to become a valuable feedstock for both commodity (high volume) and specialty (high value) chemicals.
